Alireza Hosseini was born on July 6, 1997. At the age of 25, on September 21, 2022, he was shot and killed by the Islamic Republic’s forces during the revolutionary protests in Baharestan, near the second Golestan Square. Live bullets struck him in the head and chest.
Alireza lived in Islamshahr and was employed at Erfan Hospital in Janat-Abad, Tehran. As the primary financial support for his family, he worked hard and lived modestly. On that fateful day, the streets were alive with protest following the brutal murder of Mahsa Amini. Returning home from work near sunset, Alireza found himself amidst demonstrators chanting for justice. The streets were thick with the smell of gunpowder, and the sound of gunfire echoed through the air. Fear and uncertainty gripped the city.
It was in this atmosphere that Alireza was targeted by the regime’s mercenaries, shot in the head and chest as he walked near the protests. He was transferred to hospital and later security forces informed his family of his death, but refused to release his body unless they agreed to remain silent about his killing. Alireza’s body was taken to an unknown location until his family agreed to the demands. The regime ordered a discreet burial during the news blackout and limited attendance to immediate family. His body was finally buried two days later in Behesht Fatemeh Cemetery, Salehiyeh City under the watchful eye of regime security forces.
Alireza’s death certificate, issued on October 4, 2022, falsely listed his cause of death as “impact from hard or sharp objects.” However, the police investigation we’ve seen confirms gunshot wounds to his throat and thigh. Tattoos on his chest, right side, and left arm were also noted. Despite eyewitness accounts and undeniable evidence, the Hosseini family’s pursuit of justice was stonewalled by the authorities, who callously responded, “We did not kill him; do not come back.”
Alireza lived under the heavy hand of an oppressive regime, and in death, he became one of its countless victims. Like so many others, his family’s calls for justice remain ignored.
The Islamic Regime has ruled through fear, terror, and violence for over 45 years, systematically silencing and oppressing those who dare to challenge it. It thrives on the fear it has instilled both within and beyond Iran’s borders.
