Lina Namvar was just 21 years old when she was killed during the Woman-Life-Freedom uprising on 24 October, 2022. She was a resident of Tehran Pars and a fitness athlete and coach, passionate about her sport and dedicated to her future.
After the tragic murder of Mahsa Zhina Amini in September 2022, which sparked nationwide protests, Lina, like many others, took to the streets of Tehran to join the movement and demand freedom and justice for her people.
On 24 October 2022, Lina attended a protest at the Third Square in Tehran Pars. The regime’s suppressors responded to the gathering with brutal force, shooting ferociously at the crowd. In the midst of this chaos, an officer singled Lina out and fired directly at her. She was struck by a bullet, collapsed to the ground, covered in blood, and died instantly.
Lina is one of the countless nameless freedom fighters whose life was cut short in the struggle for freedom and democracy in Iran. There is little additional information about her, but her sacrifice is no less significant. Her courage, like that of so many others, was driven by her belief in a better future, a life free from oppression and brutality.
Lina’s blood, and the blood of thousands like her, will not be forgotten. Her concerns for freedom led her to the streets, and the criminal regime took her life at the very prime of her youth.
We remember Lina Namvar, and we carry her spirit in our continued fight for freedom and democracy in Iran. Her name will not fade, and her sacrifice will not be in vain.
